Viterra

Operating across Canada, Australia, the United States and New Zealand, Viterra supplies over 50 countries with ingredients to meet the world’s nutritional needs. Today, they have a growing network of marketing and trading offices strategically located on four continents.

At the time I was an employee at Viterra, the business was comprised of three different segments: grain handling and marketing, agriculture products and processing. The company’s expertise, close grower relationships and logistical assets allowed Viterra to consistently meet the needs of consumers on a global scale. Since that time, the company has been acquired by Glencore, who sold off both the agriculture products and processing divisions.

 In 2011, I was hired on to be the organization’s Brand Specialist. My primary responsibilities were to aid in the creation of digital and print advertising and lead a small team of designers located around the globe. I also helped promote employee, customer and community relations, drove corporate branding and supported sales. Viterra gave me the chance to work for a global organization, and provided the opportunity to gain expertise in marketing to different cultures. The projects I became involved in were far reaching, well thought out and took more time to mature, which required a level of patience and professionalism unknown in my career at that point. 

Operating on so many different levels posed many interesting creative possibilities. A corporation as unique as Viterra had to be handled differently than most, as such the collateral for each business segment was given a separate look and feel, yet was still in line with the brand standards of the company, which was enforced.

This led to the creation of a variety of collateral (presentation templates, letterhead, memo, fax, business cards, brochures etc.), utilizing the artwork created for each business segment. Access to the marketing collateral was distributed to every employee via the company’s intranet.
